The Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis at Nanjing Medical University was established in 2002 and has since received several department/subject honors including “the key subject of Nanjing Medical University” and “the provincial-level key subject of Jiangsu Province (first-tier pharmacy subject)”. The Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis has doctoral and master's degree programs in the field of pharmaceutical analysis. At present, the department has 11 faculty and staff members, including 2 professors and 6 associate professors, all of whom hold doctoral degrees. Three faculty members were selected for provincial-level talent programs including Jiangsu Province “Six Talent Peak”, Jiangsu Province "333 Training Project", and Jiangsu “Qing-Lan Project”. One faculty member was selected for the CAST Youth Scientist Program, Distinguished Professor (Biomedicine) of Jiangsu, and Jiangsu Youth May Fourth Medal.

The courses currently offered by the department include: Pharmaceutical Analysis, Drug Quality Research and Spectral Analysis, Analytical Chemistry, Medicinal Botany and Pharmacognosy, Natural Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Introduction to Pharmacy, New Drug Development, etc. The course <Analytical Chemistry> has been selected as a high-quality course at the university level. Our faculty members have authored over 10 textbooks and monographs as the chief editor or co-editor.

Main research areas: molecular imprinting technology, Raman spectroscopy technology, fluorescent nanomaterials, electrochemical sensing systems, and natural pharmaceutical active ingredients. Our faculty members have been the PIs of 1 National 863 Program, 17 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 2 Jiangsu Provincial Natural Science Foundation projects, 1 Jiangsu Province "Six Talent Peaks" project, 1 Higher Education Doctoral Discipline Special Research Fund, 2 China Postdoctoral Research Funds, 5 Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education Natural Science Funds, and more than 10 Nanjing Medical University research projects. Our faculty members have obtained more than 30 national invention patents, and have been awarded second prize of Jiangsu Province Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Progress Award, third prize of Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Award, and second prize of the first National Pharmaceutical Professional Degree Graduate Education and Teaching Achievement Award.
